Yamaha YHT-590
$550.00
Released February, 2008
The Pros:Includes decent standalone receiver (Yamaha HTR-6130). Decent connectivity (3 x component video, 2 x HDMI). Attractive aesthetics.
The Cons:No video transcoding or upscaling. Small mid-range speaker drivers @ only 2 1/4" apiece. Only pass-through HDMI; doesn't bitstream audio over HDMI.
The Yamaha YHT-590 home theatre system forgoes the included DVD player of more expensive models in the line, as well as some features, but it still offers the same 5.1 surround sound experience. It still supports both Dolby and dts Digital Surround encoding, as well as Yamaha's own CinemaDSP processing, which isolates and manages each individual speaker's output for more accurate reproduction.
