The Pros:Creates rear center speaker effects virtually, works really well. Subwoofer is tight and detailed without being overwhelming. Enough power output for most rooms in a home, can get as loud as most will ever want.
The Cons:Doesn't have S-video or Component video. Not capable of big, booming bass for hiphop music fans. An older device that doesn't have HDMI or support for modern sound standards.
The Yamaha YHT-300 is an entry level all-in-one 5.1 channel home theater system offered by Yamaha. The package comprises of a HTR-5540 5-channel home theater receiver, a YST-SW005 subwoofer and Yamaha's five-piece NS-AP280A speaker ensemble.

The NS-AP280A is comprised of five 100 watt speakers with a 3" high compliance woofer and a 1/2" mylar dome tweeter. The YST-SW005 subwoofer has a built-in 50 watt amplifier and delivers sound from its 6-1/2" magnetically shielded cone driver. The HTR-5540 home theater receiver delivers 75 watts to each channel and features a wide array of multi-channel decoding and processing options, including Dolby Digital, Dolby ProLogic II,and DTS Digital Surround decoding. Yamaha's Quad-Field CINEMA DSP lets you enjoy Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES Matrix 6.1 sound formats through the 5.1 speaker system and the HTR-5540 offers 21 surround programs and 41 surround environement variations. It has 4 video/audio inputs and 1 video/audio output, as well as two audio-only inputs and one audio-only output including a optical and coaxial digital input. The receiver automatically chooses the best audio source and decoding option based for the best quality sound.
