Product Shot 1 The Pros:Ipod Dock is very convenient. Automatic room calibration. AM/FM tuner.

The Cons:Front Speaker size little too big for an average Living room. Pass through HDMI. Does not decode the higher end sound such as DOLBY TRUEHD or DTS HD.

The Onkyo HT-S5200 is a 7.1 130 Watt mid level home theater system announced in March 2009 retailing at $599. It targets the folks who are serious about high-definition entertainment in the home: 1080p video takes center stage from sources such as Blu-ray Disc, DVD, HD broadcasting, and gaming.

The HT-S5200 is equipped with three Audyssey technologies: including Audyssey EQ™, Audyssey Dynamic EQ™, and Audyssey Dynamic Volume™. It also features some innovations from Onkyo: a dedicated port that connects the iPod via the Dock for the iPod and DSP modes specifically designed for gaming. One thing this piece has that isn't available in the lower end Onkyo HT-S3200 is Dolby decoding capabilities: it has DTS-ES™ Discrete/Matrix, DTS Neo:6®, DTS 96/24™, Dolby® Digital EX™, Dolby® Pro Logic® IIx Decoding.  Something that, curiously enough, isn't highlighted on the manufacturer's page.

The step-up HT-S5200 outdoes Yamaha's YHT-591BL ($650) when it comes to number of speakers--offering a 7.1 system compared with Yamaha's 5.1 system--but Yamaha's receiver features onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.

Ali Zandi: #onkyo_ht_s5200 Amazing sound and best bang for the buck. I researched quite a bit and drove around listening to many other HTIB's before purchasing. This system produces such high quality sound and has plenty of decoding abilities. It sounds amazing with PS3 and XBOX360 gaming. Just make sure PS3 is set to bitstream if you use an optical cable for audio. Have fun! Dec 11, 09

Ali Zandi: #onkyo_ht_s5200 I recently purchased this HTIB and can easily say that ONKYO is one of the best brands for these types of home theater systems. The audio video receiver is packed with plenty of features and the speakers are very solid quality. The fronts and center are 2-way and the surrounds are full range speakers. The sub is a 10 inch speaker and packs a hefty 1200w! Overall I could not be happier with this purchase and recommend it to any movie or gaming fan! May 18, 09
