Klipsch CS-500
$1,000.00
Released January, 2009
The Pros:Setup is very easy, everything is pretty obvious. 2.1 sound is clear, ideal for spoken word in movies and TV programming. Customer service is responsive and does a great job if you ever need them.
The Cons:Original run of these units had a DVD player that stopped working after a few months - newer units (of the same model) are fine. Remote control isn't very responsive, sometimes have to hit the button several times to get a reaction.
The Klipsch CS-500 is a compact, 2.1-channel home theater system designed for users who desire high-performance surround sound without the hassle of hooking up numerous wires. The first of two Klipsch CS home theater systems, the Klipsch CS-500 is a competitor to the Klipsch HD (High-Definition) theater systems due to its inclusion of an A/V center that features an integrated Class D amplifier, a progressive scan DVD player, an AM/FM tuner with 20 station presets, and three auxiliary inputs.

In fact, the Klipsch CS-500 can even transfer HD signals through a component output, not to mention simplify all the auxiliary input connections into a single output convenient for TVs. In addition, the CS-500 sports two satellite speakers each outfitted with dual magnetically shielded 2.5” high-output woofers, and a .75” Klipsch Tractrix Horn tweeter that produces more output per less energy. The CS-500 also boasts a powerful, down-firing 6.5” subwoofer that works alongside its satellite peers to simulate the effect of a larger, six-speaker home theater system. The Klipsch CS-500 retails for $999.99 and comes with a 5 year limited warranty.
