JVC TH-G51
$430.00
Released June, 2009
The Pros:Bass is powerful, carries sound effects and thumping beats well enough to let the neighbors hear you. Small footprint on the main unit and the speakers, doesn't take up much room. Enough volume for almost any sized room in the home, plenty of power.
The Cons:Many of the wires are too short for most room layouts. Not a lot of control over exactly how loud the bass gets. External MP3 player compatibility needs an additional cord that isn't included.
The JVC TH-G51 is a 1000-watt 5.1 channel home theater system outfitted with a progressive DVD receiver, five speakers, and a subwoofer. The third of three JVC TH-G theater systems, the JVC TH-G51 is an upgrade from the JVC TH-G41 in that it adds along rear wireless speakers, which thereby eliminates the need for running obtrusive wires from the main unit to the read speakers.

In all other ways, however, the JVC TH-G51 is essentially a duplicate of its peer. For instance, the JVC TH-G51 features iPod/iPhone music and video playback through a connected dock, play/pause/skip functions onto the wireless remote, and an HDMI input with repeater. In addition, the TH-G51 also sports a glossy black low-profile enclosure built to blend with the aesthetic design of the latest generation of sleekly styled flat panel televisions. The TH-G51 also offers DVD, CD, and FM playback, not to mention Dolby Digital and DTS decoding. Lastly, the TH-G51 features an HDMI output that upconverts to 1080p, a front auxiliary port that makes connecting additional sources quick and simple, and a wireless remote. The JVC TH-G51 retails for a more expensive $429.95 (versus $329.95) and comes with a 1 year limited warranty.
