The Harmon Kardon CP 40 is a 5.1 DVD home theater system in-a-box offered by Harmon Kardon. The system includes the AVR 144 A/V receiver, DVD 27 DVD player and HKTS 15 5.1 surround speaker system. The HKTS 15 includes an 80-watt center channel, four 80-watt satellite speakers and a 100 watt 10" subwoofer.

The AVR 144 receiver delivers 30 watts of power to the 5 channels and has built in Dolby Digital, DTS and Pro Logic surround sound decoders. There are several inputs and outputs, including component, S-video and composite video inputs as well as coaxial, optical and RCA audio inputs. There are several DSP built-in presets such as Hall, Musc and Movie, and surround sound effects such as Dolby Headphone and Dolby Virtual Speaker. The receiver also includes a remote control. The DVD 27 DVD player can play virtually any disc type including writable WMA, MP3 and JPEG discs.
